Black Ribbon New Zealand
Ending Domestic Violence for Everyone!

Volunteer for Black Ribbon

VOLUNTEER
The key success of Black Ribbon New Zealand is dependent on support from volunteers nationwide.  The Trust does not receive any government funding, and therefore is reliant on the support of individuals to assist in a voluntary capacity, to help us to reach out across New Zealand to as many people as will listen.
There are many ways you can donate your time to Black Ribbon.

BLACK PAGES - DIRECTORY
The Black Pages Directory comprises user-friendly agencies and services that assist people affected by family/domestic violence.
Community services and individual practitioners can add their own listings to Black Pages, and individuals can add listings for people/services they found helpful.
A Directory Volunteer:
•    Checks all listings for grammar, spelling and the authenticity of services.
•    Assists with collating, entering, and maintaining accurate data within the online database.
•    Ensures a well-balanced range of services are available from every region throughout NZ.
Skill Requirements:
•    Computer literate
•    Able to network with the community

AWARENESS STALLS
Black Ribbon needs volunteers to assist with awareness campaigns designed to create social change to end all forms of relationship and domestic violence.
Speaking to people face-to-face is the most effective way to engage, raise awareness and build public pressure.
Awareness stalls will essentially be set up in different regions throughout the country.

BBQ FUNDRAISERS
BBQ fundraising stalls are currently being held in the Bay of Plenty and Waikato regions, with intention for further BBQs to be run in other regions in New Zealand.

BLACK RIBBON’S 2019-20 PROJECT
Jon Taylor’s ‘Te Araroa Trail Walk’
Commencing October 2019 Jon Taylor will be walking the length of New Zealand along the Te Araroa Trail promoting the Black Ribbon’s campaign. Te Araroa (The Long Pathway) is New Zealand's longest tramping route, stretching 3000km along the length of the country's two main islands from Cape Reinga to Bluff. It is anticipated it will take me approximately 5-6 months (1 October 2019 through to 1 April 2020) to complete the journey.
